A 59-year-old chimpanzee, Mama got extremely ill, and in a video where she was unable to eat or do anything as she knew her life was coming to an end, she recognized the voice of her old caretaker.
The caretaker came to see the chimp, and that’s when both of them had a heartwarming moment with each other.
The video shows the most amazing and heart touching relation between an animal and a human.
The Royal Zoo, which is in Arnhem, Netherlands, contacted the old caretaker of the chimp who is known as Jan Van Hoof.
Jan is an emeritus professor in behavioral biology at the Utrecht University, and he is also the co-founder of Burgers colony, but after listening about the chimp, he immediately came to meet her.
Jan knows Mama since 1972, and after that, he met her just a week before she died because of her old age in April 2016.
Within some moments, Mama recognized Jan’s voice and touch, and her reaction was totally heart touching after that. Mama started hugging Jan and the connection they both share with each other is clearly visible in the video.
Frans de Waal, who studied colony in 1974, contributed his role in groundbreaking research on primate behavior and Mama played an important role in that. It is great to see how she immediately connected with her old taker, and it seems like they were each other’s closest friends.
