A mother hospitalized in a Tennessee hospital got her dying wish fulfilled when she was able to watch her son’s high school graduation.
Stephanie Northcott is affected by same cancer that took away her daughter in 2012. She is under medical observation at the Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis.
The hospital staff helped Stephanie’s family to set up a special ceremony at the hospital itself. They cleared a big room at the hospital and wheeled Stephanie’s bed into the room. And she happily watched her son, Dalton Jackson, graduate from high school.
Suzanne Keefe, the Halls High School Principal, became evidently emotional during the ceremony when she handed Dalton his graduation certificate.
Dalton then helped his mother out of bed and shared a special dance with her. Julie Northcott, one of the family members, recorded the whole ceremony and posted it on her Facebook wall.
This was the special graduation ceremony arranged only for Stephanie. The official graduation ceremony was to be held two weeks later. People over the internet were touched to see the footage and the glimpse of the graduation ceremony held at the hospital.
It was beautiful and upsetting at the same time. It was difficult for the people to get themselves together. One of the users wrote that she had to pause the video several times to get herself together.
Another user wrote that this was the most special moment she has ever witnessed and she is happy to be part of it.
Truly inspiring, isn’t it? Cancer is something that is inevitable if it’s too late and you can’t do anything about it. We pray that Dalton and his family get the power and support to deal with this situation.
