A dog owner has abandoned an elderly Labrador that was found tied to the fence of a small kennel business along with a note claiming that the pooch hadn’t learned to be good.
The heartbreaking incident occurred in Kent, the UK, where Jasmil Kennels and Cattery came across a touching scene as they noticed an elderly dog tied to the railings.
Along with the smiling doggo came also a note that read:
“Hello, pls (sic) can you take me inn (sic), as my owner has abandoned me after 10 years because I have not learnt (sic) to be good, so I have been returned here where he found me. Thank you for looking after me, sorry for inconvinance (sic).”
As the dog was examined, the vets discovered that he didn’t have a microchip.
After securing the pooch, the Swale Borough Council Stray Dog Service asked the public to contact them if they had any information about the Labrador or his owner.
“This elderly black Labrador was found tied up to railings at Jasmil Kennels this morning. We would very much like to speak to the owner to establish why the dog was the dog has been abandoned,” they wrote in a Facebook post.
In a lengthy update, the service announced that the owner of the dog had been identified whereas his relatives offered to take the pooch in claiming they didn’t know the animal was abandoned.
“Having fully investigated the elderly dog left abandoned on Monday, we were able to get in contact with his owner, and all is not what it first seemed. We are now taking appropriate action based on the situation and circumstances,” the stray dog service said.
“We have also been in contact with members of the owners extended family, who know and love the dog. They had no knowledge of the owners plans and have asked to take the dog on so that it can live out the latter part of its life in a safe secure home, with people it knows.”
