Doll Master Irina Verkhgradskaya from Novosibirsk is brilliant in creating realistic artwork of elderly Russian people. She creates various settings to depict the scenes of their daily routine.
She shows every side of the dolls, sad, optimistic, but most of them are with a smile. She also creates tiny figures that depict historical and fictional characters.
Verkhgradskaya has been creating miniature worlds for thirty years and he has a collection of over 1600 figurines. The artist says that she feels happy and proud when her works remind people about their parents and grandparents and motivate them to call their relatives.
Since her childhood, Irina was passionate about sewing dolls and making clothes for them. But in the last 15 years, she has been using complex materials. She believes plastic figurines look much more realistic.
“Each figure is not just a doll, but a person with their own fate which I share with my character while creating them,” Irina says.
Irina is brilliant at making figurines of the elderly. Her most touching series, “My dear oldies”, represents the daily life of elderly people.
Some scenes are so emotional that they will make you cry.
One of her favorite works by the author is “The happiest day”: This is the scene where the bride in a white dress is hugging her grandmother.
She devoted several scenes to the WWII Victory Day.
She shows the importance of the older generations in Russia.
Irina says she feels so proud when people appreciate her work and gives her positive feedback about her artworks.
Many people thank Irina because after seeing her work, they immediately rushed to meet their grandparents and hugged them.
