An elderly man dropped to one knee and proposed to his beloved wife once again after 63 years of successful marriage.
Donna and Karl Von Schwarz, both in their late 80s, have been together ever since they ran across each other in their high school years.
The pair instantly fell for each other and eventually tied the knot. Following their marriage in 1956, they have stayed together through better and worse.
Sadly, 85-year-old Donna began facing health deterioration in recent years. From brain bleeding to open heart surgery to multiple strokes, Donna has had a fair share of setbacks.
Still, the couple continues to fight their battles together and Christina Von Schwarz, their granddaughter, can do nothing but feel inspired by them.
“They’re really just such amazing people, I’ve never met anyone like them,” Christina shared in an interview with WFAA. “They’re definitely something to strive for in a relationship.”
Despite being married for 63 years, Karl was determined to reinforce their marriage and pull off the perfect surprise for his wife.
“My grandma has been very sick & we don’t know how much time she has left. After over 65 years of marriage, my grandpa got her a new ring and proposed to her again…” Christina shared on Twitter.
And so, the elderly gentleman bought a new engagement ring, bent the knee, and popped the question that brought a huge smile on Donna’s face when the pair was on a date.
“This is the most touching post i have seen today and thanks for sharing. Wish them two the best,” one person wrote after Christina’s thread went viral.
“What a Blessing! I pray that God Bless them with many more healthy years together….Amen!” another one added.
