Elephant Smashed Tourist To The Ground By Its Trunk When He Tried To Pet It

Aside from Muay Thai and Bangkok street food, one of the highlights of visiting Thailand is the close encounter with elephants.

Many tourists have had their pictures taken petting and/or riding these gentle giants.

Cody Stiner was one of these tourists and in the video, he can be seen approaching and feeding the elephant. The big beast accepts the offered leaves and happily starts munching on the food.

Stiner took this as a good sign and a few seconds later attempts to pet the elephant. However, the elephant apparently thought differently because it promptly whipped its trunk, hitting Stiner and sending him immediately to the ground.

He landed on a pile of coconuts and was thankfully uninjured. But he was afraid that the elephant might stomp him so he quickly got up and retreated.

“Oh my God! What just happened? Did he hit you?!” Stiner’s companion can be heard asking from behind the camera.

Although for the most part docile, elephants can and do display bouts of rage and aggressiveness when they get agitated. Around 500 people are killed by elephants each year according to the National Geographic documents Elephant Rage.

Luckily for Stiner, all he got knocked out of him was some wind. Still, it must have felt like he went through a bout of Muay Thai at the Lumpini Stadium instead of an elephant feeding.
