Ellen DeGeneres, 63, once mocked Meghan Markle, 40, for being a briefcase model for the game show Deal or No Deal show in a standup comedy skit.
In 2017, Ellen made fun of the former Suits actress during a monologue shortly after she got engaged to Prince Harry.
In a rediscovered video footage, Ellen started the skit by saying that Harry popped the question on a “royal jumbotron”.
“I don’t know for sure, I think he proposed to her on the royal jumbotron,” she jokingly said. “I’m not sure. I know they have one.
The 63-year-old comedian continued and joked that her “family was going to get a little bit bigger” after the royal engagement news.
“Prince Harry has just announced that he has got engaged,” Ellen told the audience at the time. “Kate Middleton is my 15th cousin, so that makes Prince Harry’s fiancée my other cousin.”
Ellen then continued to swipe at Meghan as she revealed that she was once a Deal or No Deal briefcase model.
“Her name is Meghan Markle, she’s from Los Angeles, she’s an actress, she’s been on General Hospital, she’s been on CSI New York,” Ellen said. “And this is true – she was once the holder of case 24 on Deal or No Deal.”
“Which means if Harry had picked the other model could have gotten $1million,” Ellen told the laughing crowd. “So, darn it.”
In the same stand-up skit, Ellen told the viewers that she had previously met Meghan and had even convinced her to adopt a dog.
“This is absolutely true,” she said. “We have met before.”
“This is what she (Meghan) said about me in an interview – ‘I was in LA and I went to this dog rescue place.point 391 |
Then Ellen and Portia de Rossi walk in.point 32 | And Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog’.point 72 | And I said ‘No” and she’s like ‘You have to take that dog’.point 149 | So I brought him home because Ellen told me to.point 187 | ’point 194 | 1
“That’s amazing,” Ellen added. “I mean, she adopted a dog because I told her to.”
“I don’t even remember the story actually, but obviously she does and she does whatever I tell her to do, so Meghan if you’re watching, I have something else to tell you – invite me to that wedding.”
And now, Meghan finally had an interview with Ellen which will air Thursday, November 18, months after her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
