Sesame Street is undoubtedly among some of the most successful children’s TV series of all time.
With 47 seasons finished, it is also one of the longest TV series to ever be.
The favorite character of all children who watch Sesame Street is Elmo.
Guess what, Elmo is back again to bring comfort to kids during these perilous times. The red muppet, who has the hearts of countless children, is going to start hosting a TV show for them.
The show, named “Elmo’s Playdate,” is going to be on television from April 14.
This half-hour TV show will star celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Tracee Ellis Ross. The set up is a part of Sesame Street’s new initiative called Caring for Each Other.
The “virtual play date” will be focused on Elmo and his friends from Sesame Street.
The group will be learning new things and discovering fun stuff online, besides suggesting new things to do at home during the lockdown time.
The additional thing that is going to be in this TV show is that there will be appreciation and gratitude for the heroes out there, the medics and doctors fighting coronavirus on the front lines.
The show will be on the format of a video conference, a thing that is familiar to children and their parents.
Elmo and his pals will also be taking dance breaks and playing games. Hathaway is planned to appear in a round called “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.”
President of Media and Education with Sesame Workshop and Chief Operating Officer, Steve Youngwood, said: “We hope Sesame Street: Elmo’s Playdate will entertain and inspire families at a moment when so many are feeling isolated and overwhelmed by current events.”
“With help from our distribution partners around the world, this special will encourage parents and kids to gather and relax as a family — in a way that only the Sesame Street Muppets can,” he added.
Elmo’s Playdate will be on the air, starting April 14 at 7 pm Eastern Time.
It will also be available for streaming on all affiliates of WarnerMedia including Cartoon Network, HBO, Boomerang, TBS, TNT, PBS KIDS, and truTV.
