Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently flew to and fro from Sir Elton John’s £15million mansion in Nice in a private jet for the holiday.
The seventy-two-year-old singer said that he had ensured that Meghan and Prince Harry’s flight from and to the French Riveria were carbon neutral as he made an appropriate contribution to one of the carbon footprint funds.
This comes after the royal couple was attacked for alleged hypocrisy after they were photographed leaving the south of France in a fourth trip by private jets in just eleven days.
The couple has been outspoken on issues regarding the environment in recent months.
By flying in a private jet, the carbon emission produced per person is estimated to be seven times a commercial flight when flying from Nice to home.
Royal experts said that the British do not want to be lectured about climate change by those who do not follow their own advice.
Their trip to Sir Elton John’s mansion came shortly after the royal couple came back from Ibiza in a private jet. They went to Ibiza to celebrate Meghan’s 38th birthday.
On the couple’s Instagram, a quote was posted which was regarding doing a little bit of good that comes together and overwhelms the world.
This angered their followers who commented on their private jet journeys. They expressed that the couple should not preach saving the environment when they themselves contribute to climate change more than any average citizen.
Veteran royal watcher Phil Dampier said that these allegations must not be worrying the Duke and the Dutchess since they must be aware of their deed.
He added that like other royals, they have also traveled in private jets who have been criticized for it. He further said that British people are reacting in this way because they do not like to be lectured by those who do not follow their advice on climate change.
