Humans have always been cruel towards animals.
To get their things done, humans have been torturing animals for ages.
Recently, a 70-years-old elephant was forced to dress up for a festival and parade through the streets in Sri Lanka died.
Tikiri, the elephant was old feeble. After his death, shocking images of her emaciated body stunned everyone.
Animal right’s charity Save Elephant Foundation shared the pictures online with a view to highlighting the troubles she had suffered in her last days.
Tikiri was one among the dozens of elephants who were forced to march the streets for a Buddhist festival in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Founder of Save Elephant Foundation, lek Chailert said that Tikiri used to join other elephants every evening until late night for ten days amidst all the smoke, noise and crowd.
She was threatened to walk on the streets for kilometres and hours in order to bless people during the festivity. No one could see her skinny body behind the shimmery clothes.
Save Elephant Foundation shared the saddening picture of Tikiri and expressed their grief in a heart-wrenching post. The post revealed Tikiri’s death. May her soul rest in peace.
She has suffered all her life and maybe death was her only solace. The Save Elephant Foundation further added that her death should be an opener to those who are troubling animals for their cause.
The foundation also added that it’s sad and disappointing that nobody knew about her condition until her death. If they had known about Tikiri, she wouldn’t have died like this.
They could have given Tikiri even a few days of freedom with love and care she actually deserved.
Tikiri is now free from the world of captivity no one can harm her, it’s just that no one can ever see her.
RIP Tikiri.
