Model and actress Emily O’Hara Ratajkowski announced her pregnancy as she showed off her growing baby bump.
In a photoshoot with Vogue magazine, the 29-year-old Inamorata founder displayed her baby bump and appeared to be at least four months into her pregnancy.
As the popular model, who has been married to 33-year-old filmmaker Sebastian Bear-McClard since 2018, revealed, she will raise her baby in gender-neutral ways in order to avoid forcing “gender stereotypes” on the child.
“When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after ‘Congratulations’ is almost always ‘Do you know what you want?’” Ratajkowski wrote in an essay.
“We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then.”
The Gone Girl actress added:
“One that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with: the truth that we ultimately have no idea who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly. Who will this person be?”
Speaking of her upcoming role as a mother, Emily expressed she finds the concept of raising a child both “terrifying” and “wondrous” at the same time.
“This is a wondrous and terrifying concept, one that renders us both helpless and humbled. I like the idea of forcing as few gender stereotypes on my child as possible,” she said.
While she aims to raise her child in a gender-neutral environment, the 29-year-old admitted she understands “the desire to know the gender” of her baby.
“It feels like the first real opportunity to glimpse who they might be,” the model added. “As my body changes in bizarre and unfamiliar ways, it’s comforting to obtain any information that might make what’s coming feel more real.”
Congratulations to the couple!
