Emily Ratajkowski shared a nude picture of herself on Instagram to protest against ’25 old white men’ who voted to ban abortion in Alabama.
The Alabama Human Life Protection Act was approved by a vote of 25-6 in the Republican-led Senate which bans abortions even in the event of rape and incest.
Only in cases where the pregnant person’s health is at risk, it is exempted.
To protest against it, Emily shared a nude photo of herself on her Instagram (emrata) and wrote:
“This week, 25 old white men voted to ban abortion in Alabama even in cases of incest and rape. These men in power are imposing their wills onto the bodies of women in order to uphold the patriarchy and perpetuate the industrial prison complex by preventing women of low economic opportunity the right to choose to not reproduce.”
“The states trying to ban abortion are the states that have the highest proportions of black women living there. This is about class and race and is a direct attack on the fundamental human rights women in the US deserve and are protected by under Roe vs. Wade. Our bodies, our choice.” (Credit: emrata)
Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Kylie Jenner, Ellen DeGeneres, Jameela Jamil, Minka Kelly, and Busy Philipps also protested against the bill.
Rihanna wrote on her Instagram (badgalriri) with the picture of the 25 Republican Alabama senators who banned abortions: “take a look. these are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America. Governor Kay Ivey…SHAME ON YOU!!!!” (Credit: badgalriri)
While Ellen DeGeneres wrote on her Twitter (@TheEllenShow): “I stand with the women in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, and everywhere, who have the right to decide what happens to their bodies, as we all do.” (Credit: @TheEllenShow)
