Not every day do we get to listen to some amazing news like someone saving the environment for the god sake.
We all know the consequences of climate change, and the fact that humans had a lot of contribution to make that happen puts us all to shame.
Here, we have a photographer and his wife, who planted 2 million trees in 20 years. If that sounds like something you have read in the news, here is more you should know.
The couple was trying to plant all the trees to restore a destroyed forest. As of now, it is so surreal that the animals have started returning.
According to the major organizations in the industry, the world has lost almost 129 million hectares of forest since the 90s. We have the deforestation to blame for the loss of forests that are equivalent to the size of South Africa itself.
Apart from that, several plants and animal species are losing their habitats every single day, and the figures, as we could imagine, are devastating and doing no good for the health of our planet.
The experts think if the pace of the extinction continues, then the natural habitat destruction cannot be reversed and that we have simply lost the only habitable planet.
According to Salgado’s interview in 2015, the land has been sick, and almost everything was destroyed when they first found it.
Only 0.5% of the land had a few trees, after which the duo game of the fabulous idea of recreating the forest in the most natural manner possible.
As soon as they started doing it, the insects and the birds started to return, and with the increase of trees, they were able to recreate the forest itself and made habitable for the animals.
Now that is the kind of news anyone wants to listen to about the environment.
