An ex-soldier has criticized ex-marine Pen Farthing’s move to evacuate his 179 dogs and cats from Kabul after his plane safely landed in London’s Heathrow International airport this morning.
According to local media reports, Pen Farthing’s much-awaited mission to rescue his pets and Afghan team members came to an end after his pets were allowed to board a private chartered aircraft and enter the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, it was a depressing scenario for the former marine who felt the need to evacuate his team too.
But since none of them had visas, Farthing had no choice but to leave them behind. Meanwhile, it wasn’t all celebrations in the United Kingdom after the former member of the Royal marine’s jet touched down at Heathrow.
Another ex-soldier by the name of Tom Tugendhat blasted Farthing for behaving in an irresponsible manner. And that’s because he felt that too many troops were being used for saving dogs instead of the innocent lives of people belonging to Afghanistan.
In a bold message that was recently revealed publicly, Tom spoke about how his interpreter’s family was most likely to be killed as they were forced to stay behind in Afghanistan.
In the same way, Tom spoke about how so many Afghan civilians that assisted the United Kingdom’s troops since the past 20 years were not given preference for evacuation. Instead, he felt that many focused on non-essential priorities such as saving animals, putting Farthing’s mission into perspective.
While Tom did say that it was good to evacuate as many people as possible, he strongly felt that the focus should be more on the lives of innocent Afghans who continue to remain under threat.
The news of Farthing’s rescue mission comes at a time when British Major General Nick Carter revealed to the BBC this morning how the country’s main focus lies upon evacuating human beings as quickly as possible.
