Christopher Yancy, a 15-year-old, was born with Down Syndrome. Christopher joined special need classes at Mill Creek Middle High School, Georgia.
His eight class graduation ceremony turned out to be extra special for him and his parents. Christopher was awarded with school’s Kindness Award. His mother, Brenda Page, was very grateful to the school for recognizing her son’s kindness.
The happiness Christopher felt was sky reaching. More than happy, he was excited. As his name was announced, Christopher could be seen jumping with joy.
He was simply ecstatic at his name being called on stage. On his way to the stage, he could be seen giving high fives to his fellow classmates. He was hooping towards the stage with excitement.
Even on stage, he could not contain his happiness and was all smiles for his teachers and was giving high fives to them as well.
Christopher’s excitement is understandable, but what’s more commendable is the enthusiasm that his fellow mates showed on his achievement. The eight graders could be seen shouting and dancing with joy in order to encourage their special friend.
His mother says that she is really blessed to have such a special and loving son. She says she would prefer a kind kid rather than somebody with straight A’s.
She said her son wakes up with a smile on his face every day and asks people how many teenagers are as happy as her son is.
She is also grateful to the teachers and students of her son’s school. In fact, she is also thankful to all the student’s parents who are always in support of her son.
Christopher’s eighth class graduation turned out to be a real surprise for him. He is also happy that he graduated.
