On July 1, 2021, is what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.
To honor the Princess of Wales, William and Harry are erecting a statue of hers at Kensington Palace — her former home.
Apart from the statue, it is worth noting that the brothers and their wives have paid tribute to Princess Diana in their own ways.
Here are just some of the ways that the fab four have paid tribute to the People’s Princess since her death.
HONORING DIANA’S CHARITY WORK
Harry and Meghan posted this image on their official Instagram account to honor Diana’s charity work, and to kick off the start of 2019’s LGBT Pride month.
The images featured the US and UK charities that the Sussex support and a photo of Diana visiting an HIV center in London in 1996.
The caption in the post reads: “We stand with you and support you. Because it’s very simple: love is love.”
THE FAB FOUR
Prince William also carried on Diana’s charity work, along with Harry and their wives.
They continued to bring attention to HIV, homelessness, and mental health.
Since Harry and Meghan’s split from the Royal Foundation charity —to which they shared with William and Kate — the couple has established their own foundation “Archewell” that also focuses on driving ‘systemic cultural change across all communities, one act of compassion at a time’.
DIANA’S TIARA
Back in 1981, Queen Elizabeth gave the diamond Cambridge Lover’s knot tiara to Diana.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has since worn the tiara to important state events, including the Queen’s State Banquet for President Donald Trump.
STYLE TWINS
Comparisons have often been made between Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s choice of clothing. Royal fans have observed how Kate regularly takes style inspirations from the iconic looks worn by her late mother-in-law in the ’80s and ’90s.
BABY STYLE
Aside from personally taking inspiration from Dina’s fashion, Kate also likes to dress her own children in outfits similar to those worn by William and Harry at a young age.
For Royal children, the rule is that they must not wear any clothes branded with logos.
According to Daily Mail, Kate’s favorite children’s clothes designer is Rachel Riley.
MEGHAN’S FINAL ROYAL ENGAGEMENT
After officially announcing their resignation as senior Royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey on March 9, 2020.
For Meghan’s last official Royal engagement, she opted for a caped emerald green dress by Emilia Wickstead and a matching hat with a netted fascinator by William Chambers for the event.
The overall look closely resembled the outfit that Diana has worn when she was pregnant with Prince William in 1982, wearing a green coat dress and a netted fascinator.
HARRY AND MEGHAN’S ENGAGEMENT
Prince Harry used diamonds from Diana’s jewelry collection to create a part of Meghan’s engagement ring.
During the TV interview when the couple announced they were getting married, Meghan also made a point of saying ‘she’s with us’ when Harry said it was ‘days like today he really missed having his mother around.’
FASHION STYLE
Meghan has also been channeling some of her late mother-in-law’s fashion styles.
Diana and Meghan have been pictured in much similar clothing, with many suggesting they have a shared sense of style.
