Facebook Closed Down Seattle Office After Employee Contracted Coronavirus


Facebook has closed down its Seattle office after one of the employees got tested positive for coronavirus.

As the killer bug continues to spread through Washington, businesses are encouraged to ask their staff to work from home whenever possible.

To protect its employees from the outbreak, Facebook has temporarily shut down its Seattle office and encouraged staff to work from home for at least one month.

The decision followed after an employee, who was physically present at the office, got tested positive for Covid-19.

“A contractor based in our Stadium East office has been diagnosed with the COVID-19. We’ve notified our employees and are following the advice of public health officials to prioritize everyone’s health and safety,” Tracy Clayton, the spokeswoman for the office, said.

Just a day prior to Facebook’s announcement, Amazon has confirmed that one of their employees from an office nearby was diagnosed with coronavirus.

After quarantining the worker, Amazon emailed the rest of their employees at the office and encouraged them to stay at home and seek professional help if they begin experiencing Covid-19 symptoms.

“Your health is our top priority and we are continuing with enhanced deep cleaning and sanitization in the office,” their message read.

The news follows shortly after 101-year-old Mr. Dai from Hubei, China, recovered from coronavirus, making him the oldest person known to survive the killer bug.

While the virus is known to be especially dangerous to older people, the pensioner has recovered from it after a one-week treatment at Wuhan Third Hospital.

According to the reports, Mr. Dai looked “very energetic” as he had beaten the virus and left the hospital.

“He often talked about his 92-year-old wife. He said he needed to get better soon so he could go home and take care of her,” his matron, Li Lai, explained.
