Facebook has set its growth target in the UK to get some more likes as it has opened 1,000 new jobs in the UK as Britain is parting from the European Union.
More than 500 of the positions will be in the department of technology, which is going to include software engineering and data science.
Nicola Mendelsohn, the vice president of Facebook for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East says that she is very excited for the growth of this social media giant company.
She believes that this is going to bring their workforce total to more than 4,000 people now.
The vice president said “Investing in the UK is a major decision and we are going to continue investing here.
We have come up with 1,000 jobs for now but by 2021 we have plans of moving to the new office in King’s Cross with a capacity of 6,000 desk space and surely the workforce will be similar too.”
The technology sector has been quite skeptical about spending a huge amount of money and power in the UK now because of Brexit.
But this is not going to harm Facebook as the vice president says they have assurance directly from the Prime Minister of the country as Boris Johnson says Facebook is going to have all the support.
Nicola says “yes, it may be a difficult time for investing in the country but we are sure.
We have confirmation from the Johnson government for their support and this is why we are going to invest in London without a set back in the plan.”
“We have increased the number of employees in the workforce and we have even invested more in language learning and artificial intelligence for better working of the country.”
