Fake Instagram Account Asking Children To Send Inappropriate Pictures


A fake modelling Instagram account is asking youngsters to send naked pictures and then threatening them.

Parents across the Midlands have issued a warning about the fake modelling Instagram account ‘Starlett or Scarlett Bookings Agency’ misusing the social media app.

The account is asking youngsters to send inappropriate pictures of themselves in an outfit, a bikini and then finally unclothed.

The youngsters then are threatened if they don’t send the pictures.

A warning has been issued by Aldersley High School on Barnhurst Lane in Wolverhampton.

A spokesman for the school said: “We have just received this alert from West Midlands Police. If your child uses Instagram please share this with them.”

 

“We have had information that students at a number of secondary schools across Staffordshire, Stoke and Cheshire East have been contacted by a bogus modelling company, ‘Starlett or Scarlett Bookings Agency’ on Instagram pressurising young people into sending inappropriate images.”

“Initially, these requests will be modelling their favourite outfits, then a bikini shoot and finally a naked photo to analyse their body type coupled with threats if not forthcoming.”

Cheshire Police are investigating the agency.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said they are aware of the fake modelling agency which is contacting youngsters on Instagram and asking them to send naked pictures and threatening them.

The spokeswoman said: “I’d like to reassure you we are looking into this.”

Parents have been urged to be careful and check their children’s social media accounts and report it to police if there is anything wrong going on.

Parents can also report online abuse or s*xual exploitation on the CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) website.

The website also helps parents to discover how their children can stay safe online.
