A pregnant woman whose parents recently passed away and had become very close with her in-laws has shared how she banned them from seeing the birth of her child after they ruined her gender reveal party.
The mom-to-be explained that she’s seven months pregnant and left her sister-in-law to plan her gender reveal party.
But only a few days before the surprise, she started receiving messages from her husband’s family and friends congratulating her on having a baby boy.
Taking to Reddit, the woman said she was left heartbroken that others knew the gender of her baby before she did.
“I went to ask what happened, my SIL (sister-in-law) confessed that she let it slip to my MIL [mother-in-law] and she told everyone the sex of the baby after knowing, because she couldn’t hold it and it took proportions beyond what they imagined.
“The party was canceled and I was heartbroken, as well as extremely hurt by the two of them.”
Because of what happened, she stopped inviting her in-laws to ultrasounds or shopping trips. She also avoided contact with them.
But her husband started complaining and said she was being too ‘harsh’ on them.
When he asked whether his mother could still attend the birth of their baby, “I think my face showed my response and he started saying I was being too hard on her because she was just excited and blabla.”
People on Reddit were quick to share their thoughts on the matter, with one person writing: “I cannot imagine being one of the last people to find out the sex of the human I was carrying.point 260 |
How awful.point 9 | I am so sorry, and on top of that, her mom isn’t here to share this with her.point 75 | What a monumental betrayal.point 99 | I hope that MIL and SIL can come to terms with the pain they have caused.point 157 | ”point 160 | 1
Another wrote: “This wasn’t a mistake- this was a choice. Your SIL made a choice and told MIL. MIL then made a choice to tell everyone else in the family. Your husband is making the choice to pressure you into things, which is leaving you to make some choices of your own now.”
