The young boy who has tragically passed away after getting attacked by neighbors’ “wild” dogs while playing at his home has now been identified.
Following the vicious dog attack in Carteret, New Jersey, the 3-year-old boy who was mauled by two pit bulls while playing in his backyard has been identified as Aziz Ahmed.
According to the reports, the two dogs belonged to the family’s neighbor, whereas they managed to get past the fence separating the two East Laurel Street properties before attacking the young boy.
The two pit bulls were reportedly euthanized after emergency responders arrived at the scene. Sadly, the 3-year-old succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, his mother was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
As devastated relatives of the family, which recently moved into their new home, insisted, the young boy’s mother voiced her concerns about the neighbor’s “wild” dogs two times in the last three months.
“The mother went to the neighbor two times to let her know the dog is wild. It’s out of hand. And you know, the owner laughed it off,” one family member said, CBS New York reported.
“If you’re not safe in your own yard, where are you safe at?” another one added.
According to the grieving family, the pit bulls, which were reportedly not registered with the town as law dictates, forced their way into the backyard where the boy was playing after digging their way under the metal fence.
“This was supposed to be a fresh start for them. And how does she know that this was going to turn into her worst nightmare?” one family member said.
As one of the family’s neighbors previously claimed in an interview with ABC7 NY, the two dogs that attacked Aziz and his mom were known to be problematic.
“Those pit bulls bit people all in this area. I’m aware of certain houses, so I try to walk a different path when I know that they’re on that block,” the source said.
As of this writing, the vicious attack is still being investigated by Middlesex County prosecutors. So far, the owner of the two pit bulls has not been charged.
