Three family members have been charged with battery after attacking a teen restaurant hostess and pulling her hair out.
The incident occurred at a Chili restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a group of eleven people had a clash with one of the restaurant’s employees, 17-year-old Kelsy Wallace.
As the teen hostess explained, trouble began after she told the group of 11 women that they will have to seat apart due to coronavirus regulations that the restaurant has put in place amid the pandemic.
According to the reports, the women objected to the restaurant’s rule that mandates a maximum of six people can be seated together and proceeded to attack Kelsy after she had called the manager.
In the shocking attack, several women started beating and pushing the teen whereas they managed to rip a part of her hair out of her scalp.
As Wallace alleged, she attempted to defend herself as one of the group members slammed her with a floor sign and caused her to bleed.
“My general manager and my other managers tell us we cannot sit a table bigger than six because of the corona. We are supposed to separate them,” the 17-year-old, who aspires to become a doctor, explained after getting attacked.
Despite trying to explain to the group why they weren’t allowed to sit together, Kelsy couldn’t get through to them and eventually got attacked in response.
“But then one girl come and she just hit me; we just started fighting. And all everybody who they was with just started hitting me, and the lady who pushed me first, she takes the wet floor sign, cocks back, and hits me with it in my eye,” she added.
As the teen said, she fears returning to her workplace following the brutal attack. “I was just trying to follow the rules and make sure that I wasn’t going to get in trouble. Like this is just overwhelming. I just cannot believe that this happened to me of all people,” she concluded.
Following the brawl, the police have revealed that three members of the same family have been arrested and charged over the attack.
One of the attackers, 48-year-old Tammy Dabney, has been charged with aggravated second-degree battery. Meanwhile, 46-year-old Erica Dabney and 27-year-old Rodneka Dabney have been charged with simple battery and disturbing the peace.
