Miracle ’10-Hour Surgery’ Successfully Separates 11-Month-Old Conjoined Twins Who Led A ‘Difficult Life’ Since Birth


A mother is sharing her beautiful story about how she received the biggest blessing after surgeons managed to separate her 11-month-old conjoined twins recently.

After undergoing a long and tiresome surgery procedure that lasted nearly 10 hours, Maggie Alotbelli from Chicago claims she and her partner were informed that the doctors were successful at separating both of their babies.

When Maggie was 20 weeks pregnant, she was informed that her babies were not going to be leading a very easy life since they would be conjoined twins who would share a liver and diaphragm.

The heartbreaking news sent chills down her spine as tears began to roll out of her eyes. But she and her husband never gave up hope and always prayed for miracles. And recently, they managed to get just that and more.

Addy and Lily were finally separated after being stuck together for 11 whole months. After their birth in November 2020, the children suffered immediate complications.

From being admitted to the NICU on an urgent basis to undergoing so many complex surgeries too, they managed to make it through all of their trials and tribulations with their parents’ prayers and support at all times.

Since they also shared the same chest, it was so difficult for them to breathe too. But now that they are separated, the babies can look forward to growing and living in a healthy and stress-free manner as they are now independent.

“My babies didn’t have enough skin that could be stretched at one point. For this reason, they even underwent tissue expansion surgery that would give them some flexibility,” the mother recalled.
