A grandmother has shared how she was left disappointed by her son’s actions after his wife gave birth.
She took to Reddit and explained that her son and his wife Megan have welcomed a baby boy, so she’d decided to fly over and visit them for a week to meet her grandson.
When the grandmother arrived, she was shocked to see exhausted Megan busy cleaning around the house as she only found out that her mother-in-law was coming over.
The grandmother said that the house was not clean and Megan hadn’t showered as she was busy taking care of the baby and doing most of the household chores.
It soon became evident that her son, who was on paternity leave, was not using any muscle to help out.
“In my 61 years of living on this earth I’ve never seen an adult fall asleep faster. I looked after the baby for four hours and made lunch till Megan woke up and took a shower,” the grandmother wrote.
The grandmother also said that her son doesn’t do anything to help out and would only look at her and Meghan whenever the newborn cried.
Even though Megan just had a c-section, her son didn’t do anything to help with housework or cooking, leaving the grandmother very disappointed.
“I usually don’t involve myself in my kids’ relationships but he got on my nerves and no he wasn’t raised like that. So I told Megan she was being a doormat and that she smelled like she had an infection. I said that she needed to be on bed rest and that my son should do 100% of the cooking and cleaning rather than acting like a single teenager.”
However, her son got furious and even called his mother a b**** for saying his wife smelled and that their home was dirty.
Her son also blamed her for ‘ruining’ his marriage, telling her that she’s the reason why his wife wasn’t speaking to him.
The grandmother is now asking people if she was in the wrong for sharing her thoughts but people on Reddit were quick to give her praises.
“We need more mothers-in-law like you, that actually call out their sons’ b******* instead of praising them. I would be so embarrassed and ashamed if he was my son,” one person commented.
“Your son should be helping out. You called him out on his b******* and he didn’t like it. That’s his issue. Support his wife as much as you can, and enjoy the time with the new grandbaby,” another wrote.
