While Australia is known for being friendly to all kinds of creatures that make us shiver in fear, this story proves that we are often closer to wild animals than we would like to be.
It was a warm summer morning when a family from Buderim, Queensland, decided to rest their minds on the veranda.
After coming outside and nearly sitting on the couch, however, they noticed a giant python that already claimed the spot for itself.
After the initial panic, the family quickly called rescuers of the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers to have the well-hidden snake removed from their premises.
Following the incident, the snake catchers shared the picture on Facebook and dared their followers to try to “spot the snake.”
Obviously, all of the challengers failed, as the sneaky snake was hiding behind a pile of cushions on the sofa.
Fortunately for the family, the snake catchers arrived at the scene in time to remove the sneaky serpent that was casually sunbathing.
“Imagine going out onto your deck in the morning and sitting down in the warm morning sun only to realize something else is there enjoying the sun’s warmth as well. This is the video from the Spot the snake,” Stu of SCSC captioned the video he shared on Facebook.
“Carpet Pythons are the most common snake we catch and don’t seem too bothered by humans. They will often hang out in entertaining areas like this and won’t move, even if people are around. Majority of other snakes will retreat to cover when they see someone nearby.”
