A mother-to-be has shared how she got mad at her husband after he told her that he didn’t want their baby to look like her.
Taking to Reddit, the pregnant mom explained that her husband made a heartwarming speech during their gender reveal party. However, he also joked that their baby ‘looks nothing like’ the mother.
The woman said that everyone laughed at her husband’s remarks but she got upset and even walked out of the party.
“I married my husband three years ago. I’m currently pregnant with our first baby together,” she wrote.
When they found out that their child is going to be a girl, her husband’s parents decided to throw a gender reveal party for them.
“We got there and had many relatives come to congratulate us and celebrate. It was bigger than expected which made me nervous because I’m not a fan of being around many people.”
The pregnant woman said that she was feeling so anxious as her husband didn’t inform her that there would be many relatives but she tried her best to stay calm.
“After the announcement and in the middle of the celebration my husband wanted to give a toast. He opened a bottle and poured a drink and wished that our daughter be ‘healthy, happy, but look nothing like’ me. Everyone at the table laughed,” she went on.
The woman said her husband kept on laughing with the guests that she quickly stood up, grabbed her purse, and walked out.
Her husband stopped her and said that it was only a joke but the pregnant mom claimed that he’s been making similar remarks throughout her pregnancy.
“I wanted to go home but he said I was being a baby and that I should learn to take a joke. I said he made everyone laugh at me, but he defensively said it didn’t warrant me walking out of dinner and being so disrespectful to the relatives who came to celebrate and share our joy.”
People on Reddit were on the mother’s side, with one person writing: “That wasn’t a joke, that was an insult. You deserve someone who loves you and who knows how to respect you.
Another said: “Dump the whole man. Get a divorce before your child sets foot on this earth. He was wrong to treat you like that. Disgusting behavior.”
