A wife couldn’t believe it when her mother-in-law insisted on sleeping in her and her husband’s bed.
But when she refused to let her stay in their bed, her husband got mad at her, claiming she disrespected his mother.
The woman took to Reddit and asked whether she was in the wrong for not letting her mother-in-law sleep in their bed.
The wife explained that her mother-in-law suddenly showed up without letting them know in advance that she was planning to visit them.
When it was already time to sleep, her mother-in-law requested that she and her husband let her sleep in their bed.
“I found this bizarre but I politely declined and suggested other options like the guest room, couch and air mattress but no she turned around and presented these options to me,” she wrote.
She also said that she would like to lock their bedroom door as she does not feel comfortable enough to close her eyes without doing so.
While her husband was okay with her mother’s requests, she refused to allow her mother-in-law to take the master bedroom.
“This initiated an argument between her and I,” she continued. “During the argument, I pointed out how I didn’t want to be kept out of my room and away from my stuff but she lashed out at my husband saying ‘Don’t you just stand there! Say something!’
“’She took it as in I was kicking her out and started crying which made my husband upset.”
Her mother-in-law had left and her husband was left angry at her, claiming she had disrespected his mother.
“The next day she went home and told the family who berated me calling my behaviour towards [mother-in-law] abhorrent and loathsome, now my husband is complaining about how I keep trying to ruin his relationship with his family and push them away,” she added.
People on Reddit were quick to share their thoughts, with one person commenting: “Not to mention she was a GUEST….GUESTS STAY IN THE GUEST ROOM, THATS WHY THEY EXIST!!!!”
Another wrote: “He is not able to see the disrespect his mother is giving BOTH of you guys.”
A third added: “Girl I would get a divorce asap, these kinds of relationships never last for a long time.”
