‘I Let My Kids Drink Coffee, Eat Whatever They Want, Go Barefoot And Shave Their Heads So They Can Be Very Happy’

A mother-of-four has shared how she lets her children drink coffee, eat whatever they desire, shave their heads and also go barefoot to keep them happy and satisfied at all times.

29-year-old Mara Doemland revealed that she also goes barefoot herself and her kids – Emmy, 9, Murphy, 7, Ripley, 5, and Indy, 2 – can also do the same if they want to.

She also doesn’t restrict what they can eat and encourages them to play in the rain.

If her boys want to wear pink dresses or her girls want to shave off their own hair, she just goes with it.

“I let my kids go barefoot if they want unless the pavement is too hot. Emmy and Indy love to be barefoot,” Mara said.

“I let them drink coffee if they want to try it but they don’t drink it like adults do. They’re not doing shots of espresso all day.”

Mara also encourages her kids to have fun in the rain.

The mother-of-four also said that she allows her children to make their own choices when it comes to food and her strategy cut their sugar cravings.

“I don’t agree with restricting food for my kids. I don’t want them to have a negative relationship with food,” she explained.

“I make sure all food is available for them which doesn’t categorize certain food as ‘special’ or a treat. It actually stops them craving sweet things if it is all available to them.”

When it comes to clothes, Mara and her partner, Christopher Mareth, let their children wear what makes them happy.

She also doesn’t force them to share if they don’t want to.

“If one of my kids is playing with something and another other wants to play too, we don’t make them share if they don’t want to.

“We have taught them phrases such as ‘give me space.’ As adults we don’t always want to share things so I don’t think it’s something that kids should have to do.”
