A man has asked the internet for advice after discovering he was betrayed by his wife and then lied to for a decade.

The man in question took to Reddit to reveal that he is contemplating divorcing his wife and abandoning his daughter after discovering that the child was not his biologically speaking.

As the guy explained, he and his wife recently had a big fight during which the woman accidentally spilled her longtime secret saying that their 9-year-old daughter wasn’t even his.

After the argument, the woman realized her mistake and retreated. This, however, didn’t stop her husband from doing some digging and getting a paternity test to confirm his worst fears – that he was lied to by his partner for a decade.

After finding out that his daughter wasn’t biologically his, the man threatened with divorce, prompting his wife to beg him to forgive her because she could otherwise become homeless along with her daughter.

“I don’t want to raise a child that’s not mine nor do I wanna pay for her either. My wife keeps calling me telling me not to make her and our child homeless, but I don’t care if she is homeless or not she shouldn’t have cheated,” he wrote.

After asking Reddit for advice, the readers were left divided in opinion. While most of them suggested the woman deserved some kind of punishment, many also agreed that the child was innocent and that she didn’t deserve her father’s hate because she did nothing wrong.

“You raised that kid for 10 years and would be fine with never seeing her again? With her growing up realizing that she wasn’t worth keeping in your life?” someone pondered in the comments.

“I understand the need to divorce your lying wife but don’t punish your daughter. She grew up believing you’re her dad and she did nothing wrong,” another agreed.

A third wrote: “I mean I could never cut my ‘kid’ out of my life after raising her. Sure, I would be devastated and definitely wouldn’t stay married. But the little girl would still be ‘mine.’”
