A woman who just gave birth to her baby has revealed how her husband keeps on telling her how tired is so she asked him to keep quiet about it.
Taking to Reddit, the mother explained that she wanted both of them to enjoy their family time together and stay positive so she told him not to tell her anymore if he’s tired.
For the first five months after welcoming their baby, her husband slept in the guestroom while she was the one responsible for all of their baby’s needs.
But their baby is now going through sleep regression and has been waking up around seven times each night.
When the mom asked her partner to share some nights so she could get enough sleep, he immediately agreed.
“Great so far, but every time my partner stays with our son he spends the whole next day complaining about how tired he is. To the point where he’s not fun to be around, and spoils the atmosphere of the day,” she wrote.
“I’ve asked him to simply not tell me he is feeling tired, I know he’s feeling tired, that’s being a parent, but I would prefer it if we could stay positive and have some fun family time,” the mom went on.
“It also feels a little like he is trying to make me feel guilty for asking him to share the nights.”
She also explained that even though her husband is working full-time, she’s also contributing financially as she managed to save for years to prepare for their baby’s arrival.
People on Reddit were quick to share their thoughts, with one person writing: “He’s tired. You’re tired. He’s communicating, not telling you he wants to stop taking care of your child. Just empathise and tell him you’re tired too and get someone to watch after the baby for a couple of hours while you guys reconnect.”
Another wrote: “Maybe sit him down in a more serious way so you’ve made it super clear that you get that he’s tired but he doesn’t need to announce it. He gets uninterrupted sleep, you still have to wake up on your nights off. Read the room guy.”
