A mother has come under fire after sharing pictures of her hairy newborn baby girl and calling her a little monkey.
All parents come up with nicknames for their children. While some nicknames are cute, others may sound a bit rude to certain people, as one mother found out the hard way.
29-year-old Britney Budhi is a proud mom from Sydney, Australia, who called her hairy baby girl Teyana a “little monkey” on TikTok.
Immediately after her “poor choice of words,” the young mother was slammed by angry viewers who accused her of belittling and mocking her baby.
Hitting back at the cruel trolls, Britney has since spoken out to FEMAIL and said there was no negativity or malice behind the nickname she had picked for her daughter.
“At the end of the day it is my social media and my baby. And I think she is perfect, I am absolutely obsessed with her – I know all mums are but I think I am even more obsessed than that,” she said.
Speaking of her baby daughter’s bodily hair, she added: “All babies have it in utero, and it isn’t uncommon for early babies to still have it, especially if they are tiny.
“It started to fall out as she put on weight – but still had on her shoulders and stuff – now she has leg hair which is really cute.”
As Britney revealed, the majority of her daughter’s hair fell out within two months after baby Teyana was born.
She also revealed that in spite of the negative feedback she received online, lots of parents messaged her with words of support.
“Lots of people messaged to say they were also born with hair and their parents called them their little monkey too,” Britney says.
“These cute names come from a place of love, there is no negativity in them and other people’s perception of them doesn’t make me a bad mother.”
