An angry mother has spoken out and revealed how her mother-in-law violated her trust after secretly getting her daughter’s ears pierced.
The young mom in question, whom we shall call Anna, revealed that her 5-year-old daughter had “on and off wishes” about getting piercings for some time now.
As Anna explained, she told her daughter and her mother-in-law – whom we shall call Ashley – that the girl would have her ears pierced professionally once “she’s good and ready.”
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as Anna planned and the mom found out her MIL had her daughter’s ears pierced in secret while watching over the child.
“Today I woke up (I work overnight shifts) and my in-laws were watching my kids. They come back to drop them off and lo and behold my mother-in-law was basically like ‘surprise! She got her ears pierced!’ The amount of rage and hurt I feel for what happened,” Anna explained in her viral Reddit post.
“The fact that my wishes were violated. The fact that it was done where I said not to. And the fact that it was done without my consent and my presence.”
The mom went on to recall her mother-in-law trying to claim innocence saying the piercings were a birthday gift for her daughter who is turning six.
The MIL also said she thought her daughter-in-law “didn’t really care about it being done” because she said it would be done when she’s “good and ready.”
After asking Reddit for advice on how to deal with the new-found rift in the family, the woman received plenty of support with viewers slamming the MIL and accusing her of overstepping the boundaries.
“Your mother-in-law should be put in time out for some period of time you and your spouse agree on for going against your wishes,” someone suggested.
“My personal opinion is that nobody should get body parts pierced until they are able to handle all the aftercare themselves. If your daughter’s ears get infected thanks to mother-in-law’s actions be sure to send her the medical bills.”
One person said: “I’d never trust her alone with your child again. She knew exactly what she doing and she has proved that she doesn’t respect your views or choices.”
