A mother has sparked a heated debate as she revealed she had locked away all of her daughter’s belongings.
While all parents are forced to find their own ways to deal with their kids, most can agree that coming up with some sort of punishment for broken rules is necessary.
One such mom, Holly, has recently sparked a debate on social media after revealing she went to great lengths to teach her preteen daughter a lesson.
As the mother explained, her daughter repeatedly ignored her requests to clean her room. Even after being given a one-week notice, the girl allegedly still refused to do anything to clean up the mess.
Since no action was taken on the girl’s side, her furious mom decided to punish her by locking away all of her toys, games, and even clothes.
“I know this will probably p*** a couple of Gen Z’s off, but this is how we’re doing it in my house,” Holly explained in her viral post.
“She is a pre-teen, she knows how to clean. We have trained her to clean and I have detail cleaned her room multiple times – she just chooses not to. She had a deadline today of 12 o’clock and here she is outside playing instead.”
As Holly added, her daughter will gradually get her belongings back if she chooses to clean her room and listen to her parents. Until then, the only clothes she will be allowed to wear are those her mom and dad choose for her in the morning.
“I’m going to be picking out one outfit a day for her to wear and she has to wear it and that’s about it. She’ll get her stuff back in stages and I’m going to go through most her toys and get rid of a lot of them,” the angry mom added.
“Until then this is how it’s going to be because I’m tired of speaking over and over again about cleaning and she just doesn’t.”
After her post went viral, Holly was praised for strict parenting by many viewers. Others, however, suggested that she went too far and that she should offer to help her daughter clean her room instead of punishing her.
