A young woman has slammed her “nasty” mother-in-law and revealed the act that made her despise her husband’s mother.
The newlywed lady revealed that her mother-in-law has always posed a strain on her relationship by constantly complaining about their apartment, jobs, and private matters. The woman allegedly also found a huge issue with her own son’s nose because she thought it was too big and too wide for his face.
Eventually, the young lady and the woman’s son got married, and though the ceremony went as planned, the family was in for a rocky road soon enough.
When the 27-year-old visited her mother-in-law’s house sometime after her wedding, she noticed that the woman had already displayed their wedding photos on the wall.
“She invited me back to her place. I hadn’t been there for a while, and I quickly saw that she’d gotten some of our wedding pictures up on the wall. I instantly noticed something was wrong with them, but I couldn’t pinpoint what it was yet,” she recalled.
“My mother-in-law saw what I was looking at and proudly announced that she’d gotten someone to ‘fix his nose.’ In other words, she gave her son a Photoshop nose job. On his wedding pictures. I couldn’t believe it.”
After finding out what her MIL had done, the young woman made an excuse and stormed out of the home fuming with anger.
“She’s been calling and texting me almost every day since. I’ve been ignoring her, but she’s always either apologizing, accusing me of overreacting or begging me not to tell my husband. I know it seems trivial, but I’m outraged. And the more I think about it, the more disgusted I get. I could never imagine doing something like that to my child,” she added.
The newlywed also admitted she is now torn between telling her husband about the photoshopped pictures and breaking his heart in the process or keeping his mother’s actions a secret.
“It will break his heart to find out about this. I don’t know what to do. I have to tell him, but I can’t figure out how. I know he loves his mother, and I don’t want to damage whatever relationship they still have. My mother-in-law also mentioned she intended to send the ‘improved’ pictures to some of her relatives, so I have to find a way to shut that down,” the woman explained.
After asking Reddit for advice, readers were quick to slam the mother-in-law and suggest she was out of line for photoshopping her son in his wedding photos.
“I’d respond to her message with, ‘Replace those photos with the originals, or I will tell my husband and you will be photoshopped out of our lives.’ Honestly the audacity of her,” someone suggested.
“I’m a digital artist. I would be happy to Photoshop your mother-in-law out of your wedding photos for free,” another joked.
A third advised: “If she’s sincere about her apology then she will take those pictures down and display the original ones. She should also realize her mistake instead of trying to defend her sick actions.”
