A furious mother has spoken out and accused her son’s grandparents of child neglect after they let his long hair get ruined on purpose.
As an upset mother, who is known as @xanthehorrorfan on TikTok, revealed in one of her viral videos, her son’s long locks had to be cut off after three weeks of neglect.
According to the mom, her son was forced to spend three weeks in quarantine with his grandparents after they tested positive for Covid-19.
During this time, the grandparents were allegedly told to help the young boy comb his hair daily because he struggled with reaching the back of his head with a brush and combing his hair all the way to the bottom.
Despite the pleas of the boy’s mom, however, the grandparents refused to help the child and insisted he should get rid of his hair because long hair is “not for boys.”
As his mother explained, her son had been growing his hair for four years and planned to donate it to kids suffering from the effects of chemotherapy once it was long enough.
After his quarantine, the boy returned home to his mother who noticed large knots in her son’s hair at the back of his head.
Unable to untangle the heavily-matted hair for 12 hours, the mother took her son to a hairdresser who cut off the affected portion of the boy’s hair.
“My son was in quarantine with his grandparents for three weeks. They neglected him because they felt boys shouldn’t have long hair,” she said.
“He has been growing his hair for four years with the intention of donation. After 12 hours of dematting, he agreed that it was time to cut it.
“He is able to brush his own hair but sometimes needs help with the back. His grandparents refused to help him because of their own personal beliefs and claimed that my son is to blame for his hair matting.”
She added: “My son still wanted to keep as much as he could for when he is ready to donate to Wigs for Kids.
“Matted hair happens from neglect and abuse! No child should have to endure this physical and emotional pain. The last three weeks with his grandparents has changed his life and I will never let that happen again.”
Fortunately, the majority of the boy’s hair was saved, his mother explained. He will now continue growing his hair until he feels it’s ready for donation.
