A woman has shared how her sister and their mother got mad at her after she tried to discipline her ‘monster’ nephew.
Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that her sister and 6-year-old nephew came for a visit. But conflict started when the young boy noticed the special cookies of the woman’s diabetic husband.
“My nephew is a rainbow baby. My sister had a lot of trouble conceiving and he was kind of a miracle,” she wrote.
“While I love him, he is a monster,” the aunt continued. “He screams if he loses playing a game. He refuses to understand why he can’t ride my seven year old St. Bernard. And he thinks any food is his.
“My husband is diabetic and he loves cookies. I found a bakery that makes amazing sugar free cookies but they are expensive. I budget for them because my husband deserves his treats when he gets home from work.”
But when her nephew noticed the cookie container, he started asking for some. When she said that those were special cookies for his uncle and offered him regular cookies, he got upset and his mother came to ask for a cookie.
“I relented and gave him one. He took a bite and said it was yucky and threw it on the ground,” she went on.
After some time, her nephew came back to the counter and asked for another cookie. But when she said no as he wasted the one she gave before, he started yelling and eventually walked away.
But then he returned to the counter and took the container. So the aunt quickly grabbed a spray bottle she used for keeping the cat off the counter and gave the young boy a couple of squirts.
“My sister said her son isn’t an animal to be reprimanded with water,” she went on. “She called my parents to tell on me for treating her kid like that. They are mad at me for not giving in to the poor baby.”
People on Reddit were quick to show their support for the aunt, with one person commenting: “It’s not the kids fault. It’s the mother’s. so when she fails to discipline him, grab the spray bottle and squirt her until she controls her kid.”
Another said: “if mom won’t do the hard work of parenting then you’re left to your own devices.”
A third added: “Your method of enforcing boundaries may be a little unorthodox, but it was effective and hilarious.”
