A family has sneaked their beloved pet cat into a hospital so that their dying grandfather could see his furry best friend one last time.
As Paul Lewis was saying his farewells to his family, they couldn’t help but notice that the senior man, who was battling cancer, missed his 19-year-old cat Coco greatly.
To make the pair reunite for one last time, granddaughter Alisha Foti forged a plan together with her partner, Shane, and her uncle, Matthew.
And so, the trio hid Coco inside their bag before paying a visit to Mr. Lewis at Sydney’s Muswellbrook hospital together with the surprise guest.
As Alisha explained in an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Shane thought of the brilliant idea after seeing how much Coco missed Paul and vice versa.
“Coco was frantically looking for my grandfather on Sunday,” the woman said.
After the doctors informed the family that Paul didn’t have much time left, the family decided to act and sneak the cat into the hospital for a final visit.
“We wanted Coco to have closure as well so we tested putting him in a few bags just so he wasn’t too stressed. He was calm in the car and once we got him to my grandfather he just sat there and actually started crying which set off all of us crying,” Alisha told Daily Mail Australia.
“Pop was in and out of consciousness but you could tell he was happy to see him. I think his main nurse had noticed something was going on but I think due to the circumstances she didn’t say anything which was amazing.”
