When it comes to choosing a name for your baby, there are many things that you want to consider, such as its meaning and how it sounds.
But one dad has shared how his baby’s name has caused ‘tension’ in his family, who told him that his son will hate him in the future because of the ‘hideous’ name.
However, the unnamed father insisted that the name is perfect and that his wife is also ‘very happy’ with the moniker.
Taking to Reddit’s Name Nerds forum, the father wrote: “Tension over son’s name. My son is now three years old and his mother and I are still very happy with his name, however, there were many people who disagreed with the name we chose.
“His name is Caspian, which we chose 1. Because of the geographical and oceanic references 2. Because of biblical references and 3. Because we think it sounds unique and cool and hell.”
The dad said that both of their families called the name hideous and that their son would hate them because of it.
He also said that they won’t change their son’s name as they think it is perfect for him.
Hundreds of people commented on his post and many agreed that Caspian is a ‘cool’ name.
“It’s not my favorite name in the world. But guess what? It’s not my kid! You picked the name you thought was best, you love that name. Nobody’s business but you, your partner and your baby,” one person wrote.
“The kid is named. It’s a done deal. Those who don’t like it need to learn to keep their traps shut,” another said.
“I think it’s a lovely name, and if you’re happy with it as his parents, that’s what matters! It reminds me of the character from the Chronicles of Narnia, and all told, not a bad character to share a name within the least,” a third added.
