A family of a 17-year-old boy who was found dead after missing for 8 days on his first parents-free vacation is desperately looking for answers.
Mike Mansholt, who was a German by nationality, went on his first out-of-the-country vacation without his parents back in 2016.
While having fun in Malta, however, the teen suddenly went missing. Eight days later, his body was located, and his case baffled the investigators.
Mike was found dead at the foot of a cliff without any visible physical injuries to his body. According to the investigators, he had no broken bones, but some of his stuff, including his running shoes, was missing. His rented bike, however, was lying undamaged nearby.
Following months after the tragic incident with no closure and no identified cause of death, the family finally received the boy’s body only to get hit by another shock.
The boy’s body was too light despite already being partially decomposed. And so, the boy’s parents decided to take their son’s body to the Medical University of Hannover in search for answers.
There, they were faced with horror once again. According to the boy’s father, Bernd, the doctors told them Mike’s body was the missing heart, the lungs, brain, liver, adrenal glands, pancreas, neck organs, the bladder, the right kidney, the small intestine, and the stomach.
Furthermore, as a German-performed autopsy revealed, the teen’s body was embalmed and showed no signs suggesting that the organs could have been extracted and eaten by animals.
Two years after the incident, the parents, who still have no closure, have filed an application requesting the authorities to look into the case again.
They want answers to the mysterious disappearance of their son and his organs following his unsuspected death.
