A husband has shared how his wife was left furious after he told her how privileged she was to be a stay-at-home mom.
Taking to Reddit, the man explained that he received a call from the school informing him that they could not get hold of his wife as she was supposed to pick the children up.
He then found out that his wife was late because she had to take a much-needed nap.
“I understand how much work she does and I agree that it is not easy,” he wrote. “I was just pointing out that it’s not something that every family gets to do and we are fortunate that I make enough money for her to not have to work.
“She got upset with me and told me she’s ‘on call’ 24 hours a day for the kids. We have three kids that she takes to and picks up from school.”
He said that he was grateful for everything his wife does, but he didn’t like it when she makes simple mistakes.
“I have gotten calls from the school that she didn’t pick them up and they can’t get hold of her because she’s napping. We were talking about her not picking up the kids on time one day when I made the point and said ‘you are privileged to be a stay-at-home mum’ this caused an enormous fight,” he added.
People online shared their thoughts on the situation, with one person saying: “”I was a stay-at-home mum and it was far far harder than any job I’ve had, but napping like that makes it sound like she’s not coping.”
Another wrote: “Everyone falls asleep sometimes and are late picking kids up for one reason or another.Being a mother is 24/7 work.He is lucky he isn’t the one who has to look after them as he disappears to his work.He won’t last with an attitude like this. She will go.”
A third added: “ I fell asleep once, when I had a newborn baby, and I was late to pick the other two children up from school.. never happened again. I was mortified! I was worried sick and literally ran to the school to fetch them. I always made sure an alarm clock was set, after that, just in case..”
