No one took Jacqueline Faye seriously when she hit the stage for an audition – but as soon as she started singing, everyone got blasted away.
Faye, a 53-year-old timid farmer from Oxfordshire, England, spends her time with a multitude of farm animals as well as her loving husband.
When she came at The X Factor stage for an audition, she appeared quite nervous in front of the judges and the large audience present there.
But Faye overcame her nervousness and rose to the occasion like a superstar when she started singing Cilla Black’s “You’re My World.
Before she started singing, an interesting conversation took place between the timid woman and the judges.
Faye introduced herself and told them that she was a farmer and had chickens, ducks, horses, before adding that she will be dedicating her performance to her peacocks, Dave and Chaz.
While the audience and judges chuckled at Faye’s humbleness, judge Robbie Williams, in particular, seemed interested in the woman.
This was absolutely fitting because Faye had told backstage that she like Robbie the most in the judges’ panel.
“He’s not just an entertainer, he’s an icon,” she told the camera crew. “He’s the kind of guy I’d like in my family.”
After the brief exchange, Faye started with her performance and it was just a matter of seconds before the crowd burst into applause for her.
The judges were also amazed by her talented performance and were now regretting that they misjudged her from her looks.
Simon Cowell, the notoriously harsh judge of the show, showered praise, saying: “As you walked out I’m kind of thinking to myself [that] maybe you’ve walked on to the wrong show by mistake.
“And I’m thinking this isn’t going to be great… and then you were.”
Judge Louis Tomlinson said: “For me, stories like this – this is exactly what this show should be all about – someone your age standing up there and having a real moment like that.”
Faye has now made it through the auditions round so let’s see how far she’ll go in the show due to her talented voice.
