“I’ve had two profoundly humbling days in my life.
The first was the day my son was born. The second was that unforgettable day at the Auction House.”
This is the answer of David’s father when he answered the question “When in your life have you set a big goal and had no idea at the time how you were going to make it happen?”
Before David was born, 80 acres of their family farm in Nebraska had been separated out and willed to a distant relative.
David and his family, who got upset when the relative sold the family farm, are determined to get it back.
Fortunately, the land came up for sale through an auction.
He and his father gathered up their savings to purchase their land back. They spent day and night wondering how they would be able to buy the property as there would be more than 200 farms who also want to purchase a land.
During the auction day, David and his dad believed there was no hope that they would get their family land back. But that they didn’t know was that other fathers had something for them – something so precious they would always remember it for the rest of their lives.
When the action began, the father and son stood with other farmers to start placing their bid. But no one said a word!
Other farms could’ve easily bid for the land but no one spoke up. The auctioneer eventually gave the land to David and his dad!
The other 200 farmers didn’t try to bid as they know how important the land is for David and his father.
