Sometimes, going viral at the right time, even unintentionally, gets attention from the right people and opens up new opportunities for you. That’s what comedian DJ Pryor found out, thanks to a viral Facebook video that features he and his 19-month-old son Kingston having a “conversation” about what they were watching.
Pryor’s wife Shanieke had captioned the clip, “Only this child!! Having a full-fledged conversation with Daddy and Daddy is just as bad??,” adding the hashtags, “#TheseTwoAreAMess,” “#OurHouseisAlwaysFullofLaughter,” “#MrPersonality” and “#HeNeedsHisOwnShow.”
The original Facebook video has been shared 1.5 million times with over 1 million reactions and more than 300,000 comments in the two weeks that it has been posted. That same video attracted the attention of Denny’s executives who then featured the father-and-son duo in a new ad.
The ad starts with the pair just chilling in one of the restaurant’s booths. With a plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon in front of them, they bring the same comedic dynamic that made their original minute-and-a-half-long clip viral.
Pryor starts by saying, “Perfect that we came here to have a booth chat, just among father and son, right?” With a plastic straw in each hand, Kingston just intent stares at the plate of food.
The toddler then replies with a series of babbles when his dad asks him what’s been going on in his life.
“Really?! And that’s your favorite cartoon?” his dad responds — then follows up with, “They canceled it? Oh man, we gotta send a letter to the network and tell them they gotta bring that back” after his son replies.
The pair then start to dig into their breakfast with Kingston even adorably feeding his father a piece of bacon. Pryor then goes on being thankful that they can get some quality time at the restaurant.
The company captioned the video with: “Find cute baby from viral video and bring him to Denny’s … ✅.”
But really, do you need any other reason to go to Denny’s?
