The dad of a baby who passed away after a 10-year-old girl reportedly stomped on his head at a daycare center said that the girl is a criminal and she deserves to be in handcuffs.
Jaxon Liedl, 6 months old, was pronounced dead in hospital two days after he suffered injuries at the Wisconsin daycare center.
The young girl is accused of dropping Jaxon on the floor and because she panicked when the baby cried, she allegedly stomped on his head.
The 10-year-old is charged with first-degree intentional homicide. She cried while she was taken into a courtroom in handcuffs.
Nate Liedl, Jaxon’s father, told ABC7 that he also went to court and wanted the girl to see him.
“As opposed to seeing it as a 10-year-old girl, I saw it as the person who killed my son,” Liedl expressed. “She, in my opinion, deserved to be in shackles or handcuffs. She’s a criminal.”
The father also said that he doesn’t blame the daycare center for the death of his baby.
Authorities said that the ten-year-old, who is a foster child and living at the daycare center, was alone at that time and everyone was playing outside.
She told investigators that she picked up the baby and panicked when she dropped him. The girl told police she stomped on Jaxon’s head when he started crying.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, Jaxon was bleeding from his head and was unresponsive.
Liedl was not informed yet of what happened and arrived at the daycare, seeing his son being rushed away in an ambulance. The father followed the ambulance to the hospital but didn’t imagine the situation to be that bad.
“They had mentioned what are we going to do if his heart stops, and it caught me completely off guard. I had sent a couple messages out to family to let them know that Jaxon’s not going to make it. I remember, I broke down out there pretty bad. Yeah, it really hit hard,” Liedl expressed.
“I waited 37 years for my own little baby boy. I was extremely lucky because he didn’t cry, no fussing, he was happy smiles all the time.”
The ten-year-old girl charged with his murder will face court again next month.
