A father has taken his own life after his ex-wife banned him from seeing his three kids on Christmas following a bitter break-up.
36-year-old Jamie Bull from Cumbria, England, was discovered lifeless in his apartment by his parents after his ex prohibited him from visiting his children at Christmas.
According to Bull’s girlfriend, Stephanie Clayton, her partner’s mental health had been degrading and has “spiraled” out of control after his ex-wife’s ban.
As Clayton insisted, Joanne Thornton, the man’s former wife, used his mental situation “against him” in order to stop him from seeing their kids.
“Child access only became an issue once his ex-wife found out about our relationship. He only had very limited access. It hurt him a lot. He was devastated,” Stephanie revealed.
“He left her because he was unhappy. He stayed for the children but when he did leave it was used against him time and time again. His ex wasn’t willing to communicate or reach any kind of compromise.”
Chris Bull, Jamie’s brother, has also spoken out and claimed that Ms. Thornton “fought against him having access to his children.”
“It’s miraculous that someone who is in that much personal and mental turmoil themselves can selflessly help others in the way he did,” he added of his brother.
Previously, in October 2018, Jamie was detained and taken to the hospital over concerns about his mental health.
“We express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr Bull at this difficult time. The trust is not able to comment on this case at this time,” NHS Foundation Trust, the institution in charge of providing mental health services to Jamie, announced after the incident.
