A father was left horrified after he found a cockroach in his son’s bowl of food after the young boy had already finished eating his meal.

The furious diner confronted staff at the restaurant in Xuzhou, China, and even dared to call the police to report that there was a cockroach at the bottom of his child’s bowl.

Video of the insect quickly went viral on a Chinese social media platform, where shocked people expressed their horror at the restaurant’s lack of hygiene.

According to Baidu, the father had been eating out at the restaurant with his child when the disturbing incident happened.

Restaurant staff tried to convince the diner not to tell the police about the cockroach but the father allegedly contacted the Chinese health department and food standards agency to report the case.

But according to reports, no case was brought forward by the father or the restaurant, and no investigation was carried out.

An agreement was made between the father and the restaurant and the man received compensation of 165 Chinese yuan ($25).

In 2019, a woman from Shantou City in South China’s Guangdong Province was left disgusted after she found around 40 dead cockroaches in her meal.

According to reports, she bought a braised duck dish as she was planning to eat dinner with her friends.

But when the takeaway arrived, she and her friends were all left shocked after they found a cockroach inside their meal.

She claims that after they removed the dead insect, they started to inspect the dish more closely and that’s when they discovered more bodies of dead cockroaches inside.

The restaurant was temporarily closed after the horrifying incident.
