23-year-old Trenton Gordon shot his 6-month-old baby girl before turning the weapon on himself after a heated argument with the girl’s mother and her family.
Officers were summoned to a domestic disturbance in Alabama and found Gordon and the baby, Kahlia, dead at the scene.
Investigators said Gordon arrived with his daughter at the mother’s home when an argument escalated between him, the girl’s mother and her grandfather.
During the fight, Gordon took out a gun and shot Kahlia’s grandfather in the arm. He ran out of the house, took his daughter out and shot the baby before pointing the gun on himself.
Deputies tried to revive the girl by performing CPR on her until emergency services arrived. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.
Kahlia’s grandfather was taken to a hospital and he was in a stable condition. Authorities said the child’s mother had recently filed for a protection from abuse order against the 23-year-old, who is a registered sex offender before the shooting incident.
Gordon even took to Facebook and announced: “This will be the last day I live I love everyone that was in my life.”
He also asked family and friends to ‘send a prayer’ for his daughter and said he was ‘sorry everything happened this way.’
A week before the incident, Gordon shared a photo with his two kids, captioning the photo: ‘I am a father & I will protect them no matter what it takes.’
Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said to AL: “I just hate that this happened. It’s very sad and it’s just senseless.
“It’s disturbing, it’s disturbing to me, it’s disturbing to the deputies. It’s just very, very sad, you know, the only thing I know to do is to pray for the mother, as she laid there, weeping with her child.”
