A woman honored her deceased father by hosting his funeral procession at the car wash where he worked for 11 years.
27-year-old Kristen Driver was left heartbroken after her father, 57-year-old David Duke, passed away unexpectedly after suffering a heart attack.
As the grieving daughter revealed, her father loved his job at the Soft Touch Auto Wash, whereas he worked at the Camby, Indiana car wash for 11 years.
According to Kristen, she wanted to give her father an epic sendoff knowing that he would love for his funeral to involve his beloved workplace.
And so, the daughter decided to collaborate with the car wash and arrange for her father’s hearse to be taken through the brittles during the procession.
“The car wash was his second home. He was always there and so close with the guys he worked with. He would wait to pick up his check on one of his days off because he wanted to find an excuse to go there and see the guys and check in on things,” Kristen revealed.
As she added, the owner of the car wash where her father worked was “honored” to go through with her plan to give the dedicated worker a special sendoff.
During the procession, the hearse drove through the car wash and got thoroughly washed while the song ‘Car Wash’ was playing.
“Of course, it was an emotional day, but it was nice to have those little bits of happiness thrown in there,” Kristen said.
“While we were watching him go through, my stepmom told me that his boss had mentioned that whenever a hearse would come through to be washed my dad would say, ‘There’s my last ride,’ joking around about it, because that was his personality.
“So we did make it his last ride, because that’s what my dad would have wanted, something fun like that.”
