A father has decided to make a living by making people smile after losing his job.
27-year-old Lusindiso Malgas is a dedicated father-of-three who decided to come up with an alternative way of making money after losing his job amid lockdown.
In order to provide for his family throughout the pandemic, the South Africa-based man came up with the idea to make people laugh with the help of amusing signs.
“The idea was always there. When I was young in school, I wrote funny sentences on the blackboard when the teacher wasn’t there and the class laughed so hard. So I took this and put the same idea on my signboards,” the father said in an interview with LADbible.
“People love what I do. They always greet me and tip me. They are all friendly and welcoming. They all know me by name now. I am so grateful for people’s kindness.”
Nowadays, Malgas often takes to the streets armed with hilarious signs in an attempt to make people smile and earn some money in the process.
Inspired by the Dunoon resident’s dedication to his new job, businessman Brendan Cottle decided to launch a fundraiser for the hardworking father in an attempt to raise $15,000 to help Lusindiso buy a house.
“The dream is to raise enough funds for Lusindiso, to place him in a position to purchase a house for him and his small family. Currently, they are living in a rented room in Dunoon paying R1,500 per month,” Mr. Cottle wrote.
“I intend to show Cape Town how Lusindiso and his smile impacted me. I hope it can do the same for others.”
