The rate of child abduction cases has been soaring high for the past few decades.
Leaving sheriffs perplexed, the US state of Pennsylvania encountered a bizarre case of child abduction.
Sharena Islam Nancy, 25, an Uber driver in Allegheny County has been accused of abducting a two years old girl, Nalani Johnson right after her father got off the car.
According to the authorities, the accused gave a statement on Monday pleading innocence that the girl’s father asked her to deliver the child to a woman whom he had sold his daughter.
The accused has been charged with kidnapping, concealment of whereabouts of the minor, and custodial interference with regarding the disappearance of the toddler.
During the interrogation, the girl’s grandmother has denied all the accusations over the child’s father and confirmed that he had no direct or indirect involvement in the abduction and added that the primary accused Sharena should be interrogated to reveal the truth rather than the victim’s father.
According to the reports prepared by the Allegheny County Police, the child’s father told investigators that he along with his friend and daughter took an Uber ride on Saturday driven by Nancy.
The moment he got off the car, Nancy sped up and drove away with his two-year-old daughter.
The case is being handled by Allegheny County police, and the officials are constantly working towards joining the loose ends of the case with a hope to bring back the child unharmed.
